BIOGRAPHY
LaTasha Bundy (b. 1992) is a native New Orleanian composer and electronic music performer. Every piece of music she makes is informed in one way or another by her heritage of being from Louisiana, but also inspired by different aspects of pop-culture (anime, comics, video games, etc.). She mostly works with electronics but performed as a trumpet player for years. She has studied with musicians and composers such as Clyde Kerr Jr., Sir Edward Kidd Jordan and the Jordan Family, Roger Dickerson, Dr. Courtney Bryan, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah, Dr. Yotam Haber, Patrice Rushen, Nicholas Payton, and Jesse McBride.
LaTasha’s solo violin piece “Something, Something Space” (2021) was commissioned and performed by Jennifer Koh, at Lincoln Center, as a part of the Alone Together series. Her solo piano work “Capybara Blüg” (2021) was commissioned by pianist Paul Cornish for the Piano Spheres series in LA. Her chamber works “A Second Line in Fugal New Orleans” (2022) and “Space Gator” (2022) were performed with the Louisiana Philharmonic for their Music at the Museum series. She is currently working on a commission for the Fromm Foundation (Harvard University) to be completed in 2024.
LaTasha is the recipient of the Mellon Fellowship (Andrew Mellon Foundation at Tulane University), Monroe Fellowship (Center of the Gulf South), and the Take Notice Fund Grant (Ford Foundation). She currently teaches at the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music and Tulane University.
